Banana & Peach Crumble Recipe

As promised, here is the step-to-step guide to making the ever so addictive Banana & Peach Crumble.

Ingredients:
1. Banana
2. Peach - Fresh or tinned is fine
3. 150g butter, cubed
4. 225g plain flour/tepung gandum
5. 2 tbsp granulated sugar or brown sugar

Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 190 deg cel or gas mark 5

Step 2: Combine butter and flour in a mixing bowl

Step 3: Rub them with both hands until they resemble breadcrumbs - see pic below
I used one hand as i need the other to take photos with but trust me, it's easier with both.

Step 4: Add a tablespoon (tbsp) of sugar and mix well

Step 5: In a baking tray, mix the bananas and peaches, however way you want, squared, cut, diced and as many as you desire. Then sprinkle the other tbsp of sugar to it

Step 6: Top with the crumbs, just like so

Step 6: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden

and wal-lah! It's ready to be served. you can have it with cream or ice cream or just on its own. Let me know how it went ok.

Notes:

1. If you want to make more, just make sure the ratio of butter to flour is 2:3 e.g. two parts butter, three parts flour to make just nice of a crumble.

2. If you have a sweet tooth, add more sugar.

3. If you love fruits, add more.

4. If you want it to be crispier, let it bake in the oven for 5-10 minutes longer.

This is a very easy flexible recipe. Create it to you own likings. Entirely up to you.. So, good luck!

p/s: Mokcik D, you wajib buat and feedback to me, beriya suruh i buat photographic tutorial. hah, amik ni!

In Touch with Nature...

We went to the park again today, it was sunnier than usual and kols malas nak gi office, since bangun pukul 10. heh! last day of nazar puasa punye pasal.. Anyhoo, here are some photos and videos of Hannah feeding the birds, ducks and swans.

Hannah's Birthday Party

It took me two weeks to get this compiled. Main reason, photos are all from Mr Amien and some are from kols's phone. Yes, we are still without a camera . We had a small gathering with a few of our friends. Overall, good food, good day!

Healthy Eating??

After that madness of banana & peach crumble last week, I vow not to let it go that far again with our desserts. Both Kols and I were fasting today, and I thought it'd be a good idea to have apple pie for dessert. I tried my hardest to make one healthy one and I was very pleased to how the pie turned out. Very healthy looking indeed. hehe... I wish I have a photo of it.

And just guest what Kols did? Dear goodness me, because of his appetite for all things sweet, scrumptious and well.. gynormous helpings, we had the apple pie with two flavoured ice cream; Haagen Daaz Strawberry and Cream Ice Cream and Ben & Jerry Chocolate Ice Cream with chocolate chips and cookie dough!!!!

How psychotically insane does that sound huh??? Aiyyoooooooooo... I'm doomed to a whole life of fatness because of him! Pray for me my friends...

Some moments..

I was putting her to bed tonight.

Hannah: Ibu, ja-jat? (asking for my brother Izzatt who is ever so close to her)

Ibu: Jajat dah bobok, Hannah (bobok is sleep)

Hannah: aunty fawah?

Ibu: bobok

Hannah: nenek?

Ibu: bobok

and it went on to babah, nyang, tika, tiyah, unc apit....

Dozing off, sucking her thumb..

Hannah: Ibu, Umah babah jaaauuuhh, naik plane..plane laju-laju.. Hannah windu jajat... windu nenek...windu babah...

and on and on saying windu everyone repeating it every few minutes while snoozing away.

I wasn't sure if she even understands what rindu is... But still.... Alahai... How heartbreaking!!! And how exactly do you deal with that??? How do you explain to a two year old who is just starting to know everyone, getting close to everyone and suddenly they are not around? Sedih tol.. Nasib tak berjurai2 je airmata... Waduh..

I guess mama and babah, you better make that trip over here very very soon...

From Kolget's Desk: Get Over It (a short movie review)

Hawa was ebay-ing for some boots and the kids were sleeping. Sitting there doing nothing, I switched on the TV and then jeng-jeng-jeng, I saw one of my favourite movie - Get Over It. (I must stress out here that I am NOT a chick flick fan.) I was laughing and smiling through out the movie, because I remembered how benci my housemates were in Bolton Gardens, whenever I watched this movie. Did I not mention that I watched it for more than five times? heheheh

Hawa was asking me today (while ebay ing, konon2 kasi moral support la, walhal menyampah dgn cerita ni) "By, you bukan ke dah tengok cerita ni banyak kali?"

Nak tau ke kenapa?

The movie actually reminds me of my good all days, in Imperial College. (Lebih kurang la macam dalam cerita tu) I was actively involved in Malaysian Night, dikir barat, silat, dancing, kompang etc. It was during that time that I started to know this lady. She was not the average girl, she was seriously, wayyyyy below average; gemuk, pendek, muka bulat, spek zaman kuno, gelak kuat, banyak cakap, perasan bagus, sheesh. I was at that time (and still until now) hensem, kacak, perut berpetak enam, gagah serta memiliki keyakinan yang tinggi.

Well, cut the story short, (sebab macam malu la kan nak cerita lebih2) one thing led to another, I am now married to the lady. You might wonder how did she look like earlier? No no no, you don't have to know. Thanks to Dr Mc Namara for a few big surgeries, she had her new physical transformation, funded from selling some stolen kambings from the village, selling smuggled bicycles parts to the school kids and gadai-ing some sudu and garpu.

I love you Hawa.

p/s If you still want to know how she look like zaman dulu2, you may ask fellow KUSSESians, especially to Mr Silent-Reader, you know who you are.

Banana Crumble Mumble Grumble..

Up until today which is Thursday over here, I've made Banana & Peach Crumble 6 nights in a row. Oh yes!! I'm not kidding, 6 nights in a row. Thanks to Kols who is addicted to it. Arteries-Clogging, cardiac-arrest chronically addicted to it.

I made it the first time for Hannah's birthday party last Saturday, and since then, It's Banana Peach Crumble every single night. I tried to make it as healthy as possible from the you'll-die-in-a-week original version. Less sugar, less butter, and less cream! hah! still taste so good to him! Plus he's been nazar fasting this past few days, I couldn't say no. But I've decided to mogok making it for the next few weeks. At least until I'm sure the six days worth of Crumble has been flushed out of his system. I'll just make fruit salad for him tonight. hahaha... I'm almost 100% sure, he wouldn't go for it.

Ramen-ing at Ichiban...

We've been dying to visit this place again since the last time we did about 4 years ago. The Salmon Ramen is to die for. We love it so much that we dream about it once in a while. We tried to find anything that could come close to it everywhere in Malaysia. We've tasted lots of them, some were ok and some were just total nothing. Sure enough, nothing compared to what they serve in Ichiban. Oh yes, except for one we admire, beef ramen from Sushi Zenmai. Not the same but close.

Now that we are here, and Ichiban is just a short visit to the city centre we will surely have a plenty of that delicious salmon ramen everytime we get the chance.

p/s: I'm drooling just writing about it. heh..

Aiyooo, I can still taste it in my mouth. Ya Rabbi, sedap gile!

We've moved in..

Alhamdulillah, at last, we slept at our own beds last night. Kols managed to sign the agreement and get the house keys yesterday, we moved in straight away.

A million thank yous to Alid & Amin for your wonderful hospitality, lending us a place to stay while we sort out our house. Semoga Allah je membalas jasa kalian... we are surely gonna miss you, hannah keep asking about aunty and uncle. Keep asking to go to 'Rumah Uncle'. Come and visit us when you have the time ok.

I direly want to snap some photos of the house for this post, unfortunately, our very much loved not to mention still so new Sony Cybershot T700 is kaput!!! Due to a certain scorching, burning, excessive heat of an unexpected caustic lamp! Thanks sayang... ;)

It burned through the leather case and toast the camera inside out! I almost died when I saw the camera, not just because of how much money we spent on it, more so because of the memories (photos I didn't or haven't yet transferred into a pc) I kept inside it. The camera was purposely bought with a built in memory so that I'd never leave behind the memory card (I always do that with our previous sony). So, until our next camera purchase, we are leave with kols camera phone. Insyaallah, god permits, we'll get a new one soon, or maybe as a pressie? Anyone?

From Hannah's Desk: When everyone in the UK couldn't remember

I woke up again around 10.00am in the morning, feeling excited looking at Ayah and Ibu, but Moink??? They looked as usual, busuk and have not taken their shower yet.

"Uiks, macam takde apa-apa je?. Baik try golek-golek, mana tau diorang ingat."

(Golek-golek, golek-golek) ... 1 hour later

"Tak ingat jugak?? Poo-poo la pulak, biar boleh mandi, mana la tau, diorang boleh ingat."

(Poo poo, poo poo)... 1 hour later

"Ya ampun!!!... Mengong nye dua-dua ni."

"Ayah, Hannah yak cuk!! Andiiiiiiiiii.."

Then while in the shower, babah called, all the way from Malaysia. I could not hear what Babah said to Ayah, but when the phone was passed to me..

"Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to Hannah, Happy birthday to you.."

Thank you everyone in Malaysia!

Alhamdulillah...We are doing OK..

Salaam everyone,

We have safely arrived in Glasgow. Currently staying at a friend's place while looking for a house. We've seen a few today. I really like the first house we saw, however, it will only be available on Nov 2nd. That's 3 weeks more being homeless. We are thinking of staying at a B&B or maybe just stay on the street for the next three weeks.. aduh...

The rest we saw were either too shabby, comot-momot or extremely expensive. Macam manala?? I keep pestering kols on getting the first house. But seriously, I don't even know how to go around it. Where are going to stay for the next three weeks, if we were to decide on it? mak aii, payah!! kusut mokcik...

Other than the kekusutan looking for a house, everything's well, alhamdulillah. And Kols is still getting use to the slangs. senget2 kepala dia dengar orang sini cakap. His Uni registration was a challenge because of the scottish slangs. It might take him a while.. heh

I'm already missing everyone at home. Plus my best friends... =(
